Thimble Peak Snow2009 Media: oil on canvas Size: 9" x12" • Price: Sold Thimble peak is one of the grand beauties of the Sabino Canyon park. Shortly after one of our rare winter storms, the peaks were coated with a dusting, the rock outcrops and crevices making sharp, contrasting counterpoint to the brilliance of the pristine whiteness. Even down in the canyon which provided this vantage, the cold air was crystalline. As I walked the trail, shadow cast the cliff face on the right in cold blue light, reflected from the icy sky. The cliff gradually dropped from in front of me to the side as I walked closer, revealing the "thimble" as if a dramatic curtain had been slowly drawn back. |
